Obtaining a Driver's License

Description of the procedure: Obtaining the Driver's License for the first time, for Cuban citizens, temporary and permanent foreigner residents.
Requirements: The Driver's License is issued to people over 18 years old with the exceptions of the Military Special License, which may be granted from the age of 17, at the request of the Military institution and except for payment. According to Article 268 of the Road Safety Code, the category (A1) can be granted from 16 years old
For any procedure to perform Driving License is required to present the Identity Card.

For information purposes:
1- Go to the polyclinic in your area of residence to perform the medical examination. According to Article 270 of the Road Safety Code, if eligible by the medical commission, appear at the School of Road Safety Education to process the course that certifies by its approval.
2- The Certificates are endorsed by the Ministry of Transport and the National Organ in charge of traffic safety. According to Article 254 of the Road Safety Code.
The applicant may go to the Territorial Driving License Center to which he belongs once he obtains the certificates that legalize the previous numbers.
In our province, theoretical examinations are carried out on an outpatient basis in the municipalities of. Guane and Viñales these every 15 days, in the municipality of Pinar del Río in the Unit of proceedings Pinar 1 Theoretical Exams are carried out from Monday to Friday.
Applicants who apply for the Practical Examinations in the category of F and FE can be presented in our municipal procedures units.
Applicants applying for the Practical exams in the categories A, B and C can be presented in the procceding units of Consolación del Sur, Viñales, Guane.
In the municipality of Pinar del Río, in the Pinar-2 Procceing unit, the practical exams are carried out in the categories: A, B, C, D, E and in the subcategories: A-1, C-1 and D-1.

In order to take the Theoretical Examination, you must take it:
Certificates that legitimise the Medical Examination and the School of Road Safety Education.
Stamps: $30.00.
To request the theoretical exam, according to Articles 273 and 274, the aspirant has three opportunities.

The qualification of the theoretical exam is obtained at the moment.
Suspend: The applicant has the right to appear in three opportunities, to suspend once, will be presented in two more opportunities for a term of at least seven days.

To pass: The applicant is granted the Learning Permission to drive, for a term of six months, extendable for six months plus a value of $ 30.00 in stamps.

Driving Training Permission: The training permission is issued, which allows you to drive on the authorized roads, with a companion with the same category to which you aspire and at least three years of driving experience, this certificate has a term of six months, extendable for six months, $30.00 in stamps.

Practical Exam:

The applicant must deliver to the specialist by which will be evaluated in the practical examination, the certificate of the School, medical examination, two photos and the learning permission, and carries out an examination where will be evaluated the parameters established in the Road Safety Code.
To pass: The driver's license will be prepared and delivered at the time.
To suspend: The driver will be presented in two more opportunities for a minimum term of seven days. If disapproved at the third opportunity, the applicant may start the procedure again at any time, upon presentation of current documentation and payment of tax on documents established in the regulations.
The above procedures will be mandatory for all applicants applying for a new degree and a new higher category, C, D, E and FE.

 

Note

The different procedures carried out in our Driving Licence Units are personal.
All applicants are advised that the application documents for obtaining a new title or a new category once started in a particular province are not valid in another province, so you should start again from the beginning.

Approximate duration:
